Canadian Rockies and Toronto Experience

By Scott

I’m part of our team at My Canada Trips and I have been lucky to visit many of the popular destinations within Canada that our customers love. My recent trip throughout the Canadian Rockies and Toronto has highlighted many fantastic spots and enhanced my knowledge of the destinations.

Banff – Where the Rockies Take Your Breath Away

I started my trip in Banff, often referred to as the gateway to the Rockies. From my transfer from Calgary Airport to Banff, the views of the towering mountains framing every view, lakes so turquoise they look almost too vivid to be real, and that crisp alpine air that makes you feel instantly alive.

The town itself has a wonderful energy to it. Restaurants, independent shops, lively evenings it is the perfect balance between a proper mountain escape and somewhere with genuine character. Getting around is effortless too, whether you're on foot, hopping the Roam bus, or grabbing a short taxi.

The must-do: Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, without question. I joined a sunrise tour to both, and it was one of those moments you genuinely struggle to put into words. Standing at the edge of Moraine Lake before the crowds arrive, the water still, the mountains reflected perfectly it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Jasper – The Rockies, Slower and Wilder

If Banff is the energy, Jasper is the soul.

Quieter, more remote, and wonderfully free of the commercial gloss, Jasper feels like a place the mountains belong to. It's perfect for spot to properly switch off and sink into nature rather than simply pass through it.

The drive between the two along the Icefields Parkway deserves a mention all of its own. Quite honestly, it's one of the most spectacular road journeys I've ever done. Glaciers, sweeping valleys, frozen lakes it's reason enough to make the trip.

The must-do: Jasper is a designated Dark Sky Preserve, and a stargazing experience here is something else entirely. Add in genuine wildlife encounters elk, bears, deer wandering freely   and you start to understand why this place leaves such a lasting impression.

Edmonton – The Unexpected Highlight

Edmonton doesn't always make the shortlist, but it absolutely should.

It offers something the mountains can't a taste of urban Canada that's warm, welcoming and genuinely interesting. It's a brilliant addition to the itinerary, giving clients a natural pause point that adds variety rather than interruption.

The must-do: The West Edmonton Mall sounds like a shopping trip and turns out to be so much more. Waterparks, entertainment complexes, endless things to do it works for families, couples, everyone.

Toronto – The Perfect Finale

After the stillness of the mountains and the open skies of Alberta, arriving in Toronto feels like a completely different world. Vibrant, multicultural, buzzing with energy it's the ideal contrast to close out the journey on a high.

The waterfront is worth a wander, the neighbourhoods are endlessly interesting, and as a base for exploring further afield it's hard to beat.

The must-do: Niagara Falls. It simply has to be done. I took part in day trip from Niagara Falls, the guide was great throughout the tour with stops at Niagara on the Lake for some wine tasting of the regional Ice Wine. At Niagara Falls I had free time to explore after joining in the Voyage to the Falls tour which took me up close to the Horseshoe Falls.

Other highlights during my time in Toronto includes a visit to the CN Tower and an afternoon exploring the Distillery District.

Final Thoughts

Overall, a trip to the Canadian Rockies and Toronto is the perfect way to see Canada’s highlights from the dramatic mountain peaks to the powerful Niagara Falls this trip is filled with Canada’s iconic highlights. I have been left with ever lasting memories.
