Having travelled extensively throughout the world from a young age, she has always had a taste for visiting exceptional destinations and has been able to pass on her knowledge for the past 16 years working in the travel industry. First-hand Travel Experience in Canada

There are so many ways to see what Canada has to offer, but travelling by rail, spotting wildlife and embarking on a self-drive adventure have been among my highlights so far.
 

Rest and relaxation on VIA Rail

When it comes to seeing Canada by rail, one of the most popular options is a journey on VIA Rail. It’s an incredible alternative to Rocky Mountaineer. My experience saw me travel from Vancouver to Jasper. It was just amazing to enjoy an overnight rest onboard the train, after spending the day savouring the scenery and wonderful company. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I will be returning to Canada to travel on The Ocean train between Quebec and Halifax.
 

Memorable Canada wildlife highlights

Canada is fortunate to be the home of so many iconic and beautiful animals. Wildlife experiences in the Rockies take some beating. During my time in this stunning part of the country, I took part in a Jasper Discover Wildlife Tour. It was brilliant, and the guide was so passionate and committed to ensuring we saw as much as possible. We spotted black bears, eagles and moose. For a few hours, it makes for a brilliant experience, and it is a good option even if you are doing a self-drive or motorhome holiday.
 

Freedom of a self-drive adventure

One of the best ways to help you move close to the spectacular sights is by experiencing scenic drives in Canada. I love the freedom and independence which a self-drive trip can offer. You can go at your own pace, either taking as much time as possible to soak in the incredible scenery and have leisurely lunches in charming towns. Alternatively, you can cram in as many activities as you can with limited time. Even for the early birds, there are amazing sights to enjoy in Canada at sunrise!

Top 3 Must-Do Experiences in Canada

  • Walking trails around Lake Louise – there are amazing routes which take you past wonderful smaller lakes like Mirror Lake. You can stop and have a dip, whilst enroute to Lake Agnes Tea House and a high viewpoint looking down to Lake Louise.
  • Enjoy a trip on Athabasca Glacier, either by Ice Explorer or pop on some crampons for a hike.
  • Visit Niagara Falls – it truly is impressive. A brilliant experience and day trip from Toronto, something you will always remember.

Hidden gem destination most people miss

  • Clearwater, specifically Alpine Meadows. After a busy few days in the bustling tourist towns of Jasper and Banff, it can be a lovely, relaxing stop surrounded by the true beauty of the Rockies.
