First-hand Travel Experience in Canada
There are so many ways to explore Canada. I have many personal highlights, with each trip just as memorable as the last, but those that stand out for me are fantastic rail journeys, wildlife holidays and self-drive adventures.
Exceptional Canada rail holidays
A Rocky Mountaineer rail journey is an unforgettable and luxurious experience. During my trip between Banff and Vancouver, I was treated to impeccable service and delicious food while admiring stunning scenery. The jaw-dropping landscapes in Canada never fail to take your breath away and it was amazing to be able to sit back, relax and take it all in from the comfort of GoldLeaf Service.
If
visiting some of Canada’s exciting cities is on your bucket list, a VIA Rail journey offers a great alternative to driving long distances while ensuring comfort and giving you the chance to witness breathtaking views. My itinerary on VIA Rail allowed me to visit Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. I enjoyed fantastic service while onboard and everything ran like clockwork.
Discover jaw-dropping wildlife adventures
Canada has some of the best and most iconic wildlife in the world. No matter which province you visit, you will have the chance to witness majestic animals in their natural habitat. I’ve been lucky to experience whale watching in Canada and bear viewing in British Columbia. A wildlife holiday also allows you to combine it with another itinerary so you can make the most of every moment.
During my self-drive holiday in Nova Scotia, I took part in a whale watching trip in Cape Breton. I was also fortunate to experience the sensational Great Bear Lodge in British Columbia where I saw bears in their natural habitat and was able to embrace nature in the Great Bear Rainforest. A bonus was the scenic floatplane transfers to/from Vancouver Island where I stayed in a floating lodge.
Embark on a self-drive journey
It goes without saying Canada is big – very big. One of the best ways to cover ground and give yourself flexibility and freedom is by building a Canada road trip itinerary. I have enjoyed two spectacular self-drives in Canada. The first was in Western Canada taking in Vancouver, Whistler, Port Hardy, Campbell River, Tofino, Ucluelet and Victoria. My other adventure was exploring Nova Scotia and Cape Breton taking in Halifax, Lunenburg, Baddeck, Ingonish and Pictou.
