The historic downtown, also known as Old Naples, has Victorian-era buildings, including the 1895 Palm Cottage, which is open for tourists. Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South are lined with up-market stores, art galleries and exquisite restaurants.

There are dozens of excellent golf courses in the area, including at the venerable Naples Beach Hotel and Tiburón Golf Club’s Greg Norman–designed courses. Rotating exhibitions of modern art are on view at the Baker Museum. The 170-acre Naples Botanical Garden showcases native and exotic plant life, while Naples Zoo is home to animals from Florida, Africa and elsewhere.

While the Naples, Florida area is known for great golf, beaches and resort getaways, there’s a lot to be said for the city’s emerging nightlife scene.

Entertainment districts that host family-friendly shopping and dining during the day, like Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, double as after-dark hot spots serving up hand-crafted cocktails and dance-worthy live music.
