The hotel sits above the St Lawrence River on the edge of La Malbaie, with the town's shops, restaurants and nightlife a short drive away. Casino de Charlevoix sits right next door, and the wider Charlevoix region's hiking trails and cycling paths along the river are easily reached from the hotel. It's roughly a 90-minute drive from Quebec City, making it a workable stop on a wider Quebec self-drive itinerary as well as a destination in its own right.
In our experience, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu is the standout choice in La Malbaie for a genuinely grand stay – the golf course and spa alone make it worth a dedicated few nights, and its riverside setting is one of the most dramatic in Charlevoix. It suits both a golf-led break and a broader Quebec self-drive itinerary that takes in the wider Charlevoix coastline.
